Looking for a sparkling way to ring in the new year?

We did a little tasting around town, then asked local wine shop owners and readers of Uncorked (www.daytondailynews.com/wineblog) to come up with the following recommendations:

D'Argent Blanc de Blancs Brut ($11.99): This dry sparkler was endorsed by Uncorked readers Vick and Ann. Vick called it "delightful, inexpensive — and French."

Ca' Tullio Prosecco ($14.99): I tasted this at Arrow Wine's Centerville store earlier this month and thought it was a bargain, with fruity, intense flavors and a dry finish.

Sparkling wines from Gruet ($17-$18), produced in New Mexico of all places, received warm endorsements from Shawn Grow of Cork & Vine and Dave and Jen Sauer of Bella Vino Wine Merchants, as well as from Uncorked reader Patty V. Look for the Gruet Rosé and Blanc de Noirs.

La Spinetta Moscato d'Asti ($18): Tasted at Dorothy Lane Market's Oakwood store, this Italian sparkler is a crowd-pleasing, delicious, semi-sweet bottling from a dependable producer. One other plus that you'll appreciate the morning after: its modest 5.5 percent alcohol level.

Duval-Leroy NV (Non-Vintage) ($40-$47): This dry bubbly also received multiple votes, from Brian Linnean from the Wine Gallery & Café, from Kim and Bonnie at A Taste of Wine, and from Uncorked readers Niki and Patty.

Cedric Bouchard Inflorescence Blanc de Noir Brut ($65.99): Nominated by Cuvee Wine Bar co-owner Jessica Paringer, who suggests splurging and forgetting about finances for one night with a wine with a "beautiful fruit nose and clean flavors — elegant beyond compare."
