Five ideas for family fun this week

May 16: Spring Fling: It's quite the weekend to be in Miamisburg, given that it's time for Spring Fling — for the 28th year. Everything kicks off Friday, May 16, from 7 to 9 p.m., when A Taste of Miamisburg takes over the square. Jimmy Buffett tribute band Parrots of the Caribbean play from 7 to 9 p.m. Get up early on Saturday, because the parade takes off at 9:45 a.m. and ends where the fun begins — Library Park. May 16-17: Weekend events at Boonshoft: Get a lesson in astronomy with a mini-course on Mercury at 7 p.m. Friday, May 16. After the presentation, check out laser light shows, Planetarium shows and night sky observation (weather permitting). Admission to night sky viewing activities is free. The Planetarium show is $1 for nonmembers and free for members, and the laser show is $5 for nonmembers and $3 for members. Events run to 11 p.m. The Boonshoft Museum of Discovery is located at 2600 DeWeese Parkway in Dayton.

May 16-18: A World A'Fair: The Dayton Convention Center is again the site of this, the 35th international festival, where food spans the globe and various cultures collide in a most beautiful way. Doors open at 5 p.m. Friday and stay open until 11 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Advance tickets are $5 adults and senior citizens, $3 ages 6-18. At the door, tickets are $7 adults, $5 seniors, $4 6-18. Visit www.aworldafair.org for information on buying advance tickets.

May 17: Aullwood Farm Babies Fest: Awwww. Wanna see some cute animals? This event perfect for family fun is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aullwood Farm, 9101 Frederick Pike. Admission is $5 per car. For more information, visit aullwood.center.audobon.org.

May 19: Momtopia Monday at Dayton Mall: Moms, looking for something to do with the kids on Monday? Check out Dayton Mall's Momtopia Monday at 10 a.m. at the center of the mall. For more information, call (937) 433-0957.
