Extras
WHY ARE THEY CELEBRATING:
Proceeds benefit Community Action Partnership's youth programs and Youth Empowerment Center (YEC) in Trotwood. The YEC serves more than 100 youngsters ages 7 to 17 by giving providing a place where they receive literacy, entrepreneurship training, social skill building opportunities and mentoring support.
WHAT'S IN STORE?
The festive evening includes a cocktail hour, dinner, musical entertainment from the group Touch and a presentation by the Youth Empowerment Center. Featured speaker is NAACP Image Award winner, author and Dayton native Charles B. Schooler, whose book, "More Than Entertainers: An Inspirational Black Career Guide" received the 2008 Image Award for outstanding literary work in the youth/teen category.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE?
"Unfortunately, the storm of dwindling budgets and support for social service agencies continues to put Community Action Partnership and the young people we serve at risk," says Tim Donnellan, president and CEO of the Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area. "It is critical for us to generate additional monies to ensure that we are able to sustain such valuable programming for our young people and this community."
