Staff Report
The 45-year-old father of a Miami University student and a 21-year-old Hamilton man were arrested last weekend for their roles in a fight at Hawk's Landing.
Witnesses told police Andrew Rose, 1263 Riker Drive, New Albany, Ohio, and two other subjects attacked Matthew Maricle, 220 Dawnee Drive, Hamilton, after a heated exchange between the two men on April 4.
Police said Rose claimed he was walking to his son's apartment when he saw a fight at 5262 Brown Road and attempted to intervene. Rose said he was assaulted in the process, telling police he was punched and kicked while on the ground. Rose reportedly could not identify his attackers, but told officers they fled to a third floor apartment at Hawk's Landing.
After making a forced entry to check on the welfare of Maricle, police said they observed the 21-year-old to have suffered severe facial injuries. In addition to some swelling around his left eye, Maricle allegedly sustained a broken nose during the fight.
As both men indicated the other subject started the fight, police issued Maricle and Rose citations for disorderly conduct.
