'Senior black correspondent' to speak tonight at Parrish Auditorium, MUH

HAMILTON — The "senior black correspondent" on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" will shed some light on diversity tonight at a town meeting.
Larry Wilmore will speak at 7 p.m. Feb. 19, at the Parrish Auditorium, Miami University Hamilton, as part of the Racial Legacies and Learning: How to Talk about Race town meeting.
In addition to working on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Wilmore has his first book out entitled "I'd Rather We Got Casinos and Other Black Thoughts."
Starting out as an actor and stand-up comic, Wilmore headed into television writing and has written for such shows as "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "The Jamie Foxx Show." He's credited with creating "The Bernie Mac Show," co-creating "The PJs" with Eddie Murphy, and recently worked as a consulting producer on "The Office."
Wilmore's speech — "Let's Not Take Diversity Too Seriously: Just Kidding!" — opens the door to an honest conversation abouty race and diversity in the U.S.
The event will also honor the local winning organization of the Impact Award, given to local businesses and groups each year that have improved the equity and diversity in their organizations and in the community.
