Later in the day, two accidents less than half a mile apart on Ohio 4 sent three people to area hospitals.
The first occurred at 4:43 p.m. in the 6300 block of Hamilton-Middletown Road in Monroe when a Jeep rear-ended a Mitsubishi Galant stopped for construction.
The driver of the Jeep, Brianne Andre, 28, of Springboro, was cited for assured clear distance and treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to dispatchers.
A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Rochelle Melton of Middletown, was transported to Atrium Medical Center for nonlife-threatening injuries, as was the driver of the Mitsubishi, Anna Marchetti, 23, of Monroe.
The second accident occurred at 5:13 p.m. at Ohio 4 and Todhunter Road when a tow truck heading south to the first accident collided with a Chevrolet van, according to dispatchers.
The van's driver, Guang Peng, 44, of Middletown was transported to Atrium for nonlife-threatening injuries. Both drivers were listed at fault but neither was cited, officials said.
