5 things to do this weekend

1 The Great Miami River Days are scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday on Neilan Boulevard between Knightsbridge Drive and Williams Ave., in Hamilton (near Miami Hamilton). Activities include boating, skiing, American Indian tribe re-enactments, food, dancers and more. The event continues on Sunday and is designed to raise awareness of the assets of the river. 2 A motorcycle run and party called Ride for Jordan II honors local student Jordan Robinson and takes off from the Hamilton Freshman Building at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. It will end at the Fireman's Clubhouse on Hamilton Richmond Road, where there will be a band, silent auction, split the pot and food. Funds raised will aid Jordan's medical expenses as she has suffered from a kidney disorder and had a kidney transplant. The cost is $20 for adults, $10 for children (ages 3 and younger are free). 3 Southern rock musicians The Gary Jeffries Band will perform original tunes at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Turner Gill's Bar and Grill, 2556 Millville Oxford Road, McGonigle. The cost to get in is $3. For more info call (513) 863-3383.

4 Want to scare people? This weekend is your last chance to audition to be part of Kings Island's annual Halloween Haunt event. Auditions take place from 3-7 p.m. today and 1-5 p.m. Saturday. For information contact the Mason amusement park's live entertainment department at (513) 754-5648. More information about the park may be found online at journal-news.com/kicentral.

5 First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will host Disciples Fun Fest at 3 p.m. Sunday. The event on the church's lawn includes musical groups Frantic 180, Razor's Edge, Live Past Life, Disciples Four and Chalice Praise Team. The church is located at 4520 Rosedale Road, Middletown.
