Weeks after returning from the Disney Magic Music Days performance in Disney World, Kylie Knau of Trenton still wears her Cinderella costume around the house. She treasures the dozen autographs she gleaned from her favorite characters, especially from Goofy.
The 6-year-old member of Andrea's Dance Center in Fairfield Twp. traveled in June with her classmates to train in Orlando, Fla. with the company, Just for Kix.
The girls, along with children from across the country, performed on a stage in the Magic Kingdom amusement park. They got behind the scenes tours and practiced with actual Disney performers before their debut.
"When they performed, I think every one of us was crying," Shannon Knau said. "It was a really great experience."
Her daughter was part of the 10 and younger group that sported Disney princess costumes.
An older group wore clothing from around the world and the oldest group consisted of cheerleaders.
Fairfield Twp. resident Sheryl Marler said her daughter Kennedy Marler, 7, also enjoyed the princess ballet performance.
"She loves dance, and it's kind of a win, win for our family," Marler said. "She gets to do something she loves and makes lots of friends and I get a very confident little girl."
Kennedy said her favorite part of the trip was the performance.
"It was fun and cool that we actually got to dance on stage at Disney," she said.
While her favorite character to meet was Mickey Mouse, she said it was pretty exciting to meet Cinderella in person.
"She didn't really watch us dance, but she signed my book and we took pictures," she said.
