ROSS TWP. — Hiring a new principal and eliminating an administrative position at the high school will save the Ross Local School District more than $50,000.
Former high-school assistant principal Lani Wildow on May 29 was appointed RHS principal to replace Keith Klinefelter, who accepted a position in the Southwest Local School District.
Her position will not be filled and Rich Bryant will serve as sole assistant principal.
The moves result in a net savings of $54,600.
Board members on Thursday, June 26, awarded annual raises to administrators, and for some, salary increases based on their new positions and responsibilities.
"I believe this board and the residents of the Ross Local School District are well served by Todd Yohey and Chris Poetter," said David Brown, board president. "Both strive for efficiencies in the areas they manage, and both provide exceptional value to our excellent-rated district.
"Along with the rest of our administrative team, they are helping produce excellent results and we as a board believe they have earned the compensation they have been provided."
Administrators and their new salaries effective Aug. 1 are:
• Christen Davis, assistant RMS principal, 6.2 percent increase, $70,841;
• Rich Bryant, assistant RHS principal, 17.3 percent, $74,500;
• Wildow, RHS principal, 29.3 percent, $82,100;
• Doug Noonan, athletic director, 3 percent, $73,233;
• Debbi Johnsen, elementary principal, 4.5 percent, $79,002;
• Chris Saylor, RMS principal, 7.7 percent, $83,500;
• Tom Perry, elementary principal, 4.8 percent, $82,022;
• Greg Young assistant superintendent, 4 percent, $99,632;
• Todd Yohey, superintendent, 4.1 percent, $102,000;
• Chris Poetter, treasurer, 7.5 percent, $76,500.
Teachers in January received a 3.1 percent increase retroactive to September, 2007; a 3 percent increase the second year; and a 2.9 percent increase the third year, according to the contract. Noncertified workers received the same three-year increases as the Ross Education Association.
