HAMILTON — Charges have been raised to murder against a father accused of shaking his baby girl to death, according to Hamilton police.

Vincent Blanda, 37, of the 500 block of Williams Avenue in Hamilton, is now charged with murder, according to police. Blanda was taking care of his 5-month-old infant, Brooklin Blanda, on Monday, March 24, according to records. Blanda called police that morning stating "I did something stupid." Blanda told a 911 dispatcher that the infant woke up and that he shook her to stop her from crying.

Brooklin was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital for treatment of severe head trauma. She died at the hospital the following day.

Blanda is scheduled to be arraigned in Hamilton Municipal Court on Tuesday, April 1. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
