Proceeds will also help fund the Lakota East's band trip to Hawaii to perform in the 2008 Waikiki Holiday Parade. East student will perform at the USS Missouri Battleship for the 67th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

"I am pleased that the CSO can help support Lakota's band programs because music education is very important to me and to the orchestra," said CSO Music Director Paavo Järvi. "This performance in the community is a great opportunity to showcase the quality of this orchestra."

Direct orchestra expenses will be offset through sponsorship. The concert is hosted by the Lakota Upbeat Club, Inc., the parent band booster club.

"We are thrilled to have the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra perform live in our community. They have been our role models for years. To have the CSO perform Richard Wagner's music in our backyard like we will with the Marching Firebirds this year, is a dream come true," said Greg Snyder, Lakota West band director.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our community, and we appreciate the residents who made this possible. This concert fits our desire to be a vital part of the community and to add to the richness of living in West Chester and Liberty Townships," said Lakota Local Schools Superintendent Mike Taylor.

The Tuesday, Oct. 9 concert program includes overtures by Beethoven and Wagner and a Mozart flute concerto performed by CSO Principal Flutist Randolph Bowman.
