WMOH to drop ESPN Radio shows

Fundamental change is in the air for WMOH-AM (1450) radio.

Chris Theiss, general manager of the radio station based in Hamilton, confirmed Saturday evening that WMOH "in the future, and I'm not sure when" no longer will carry ESPN Radio's syndicated programming.

"There have been a lot of turn of events over the last 24 hours," Theiss said.

A possible result is that WMOH will return to a format with more of an emphasis on local news and programming.

"As some point, we will have our local morning show on as we have in the past," Theiss said. "Hopefully, we'll find the right combination of programming that will broaden our audience. We are Butler County's radio station."

The coming change at WMOH should not affect fans of Butler County high school football, basketball and baseball.

"We'll still have our local high school sports and Miami (University sports)," he said. "That will not change, especially our high school coverage, and we're under contract with Miami for another year. We'll see what happens after that.

"We have no intention of dropping Miami," Theiss added, noting that since Miami is based in Butler County, it makes sense for what he called "Butler County's radio station" to continue its affiliation with the RedHawks.
