WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP — Two West Chester Township men are being charged with assaulting a police officer after a routine traffic turned into a high-speed chase that resulted in two officers suffering minor injuries.

Three men are facing a variety of charges from the incident, which happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday at a Shell gas station on Cincinnati-Dayton Road, according to the West Chester Township Police Department.

Salvador Guillermo, 49, of an unknown address, was pulled over by police for driving without headlights, according to police. When Guillermo failed to comply, he drove off and arrived at the Fountain Apartments on Desoto Drive in West Chester Township shortly thereafter, authorities said.

Both Guillermo and his passenger Jonathan Jimenez, 20, 8196 Desoto Drive, Apt. 200, of West Chester Township, left the vehicle in an attempt to flee the scene, police said.

Alex Jimenez, 25, also of the Desoto Drive address, arrived on the scene and assaulted a police officer, authorities said. Jonathan Jimenez joined Alex Jimenez in assaulting the officer, according to police. A K-9 was released on the Jimenez men to prevent injury to the officer, police said. All three men were arrested and taken to the Butler County Jail.

Guillermo has been charged with failure to control, failure to comply, driving under the influence, operating without headlights and no driver's license.

Jonathan Jimenez has been charged with assault on a police officer, assault on a police dog and resisting arrest. He was transported to Mercy Hospital in Fairfield because of dog bite injuries to the neck, arm and leg, according to Local 12 WKRC.

Alex Jimenez has been charged with assault on a police officer and assault on a police dog, according to police.

At least three officers responded to the incident, police said. Two of them received minor injuries during the pursuit. The assaulted officer escaped unharmed, authorities said.
