West Side 10-year-olds delayed
TALLMADGE — The West Side Little League 9-10 Little League baseball team must wait until today to see whether it can advance to the winners’ bracket finals. Monday’s game against Clayton Hardscrabble was rained out.
In two previous games, West Side bashed New Albany 17-5 behind the solid pitching of Cooper Haynes, Cole Purdy and Payton Pennington, and big hitting performances by Matthew Myers (five hits), Kaden Kimbrell and Cooper Haynes (two doubles each).
In the team’s second contest, West Side drained Avon Lake 17-3. Myers earned the pitching win and had a double, Haynes doubled twice and singled another time, Cameron Tenhundfeld had three hits, and Jaylen Robinson doubled.
Tonight’s winners’ bracket semifinal is set for 6 p.m.
