Miami volleyball team loses two
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Miami University’s volleyball team was defeated by Ohio State 25-22, 25-12, 29-27 and by USF 20-25, 27-25, 25-22, 25-23 at the Kentucky Classic on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Miami (1-5) was led by Amy Raseman with 10 kills and Lisa Treadway with 16 digs against OSU, and by Colleen Loftus with 12 kills and 14 digs and Raseman with 13 kills against USF.
The RedHawks open their season at home at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Wright State.
Patterson leads MU at Flyer 5K race
KETTERING — Miami University senior Rachel Patterson won the individual title at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge to lead the RedHawks to a season-opening team victory at Indian Riffle Park on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Patterson finished in a course-record 17 minutes, 25 seconds for Miami, which has won the event four straight years. Amanada Mirochna placed third for the RedHawks, Maggie Bingham was fifth and Kelley Miller finished sixth.
The Miami men also won the Flyer 5K and were led by sophomore Jarrod Eick, third in 15:14, followed by Robbie Fisher, fourth, and David Eichenberger, fifth.
RedHawks beat Brown in field hockey
IOWA CITY, Iowa — Miami University’s field hockey team scored a 1-0 victory over Brown on Saturday, Sept. 4.
The Bears did not get a shot against the RedHawks (4-0). Jackie Nguyen scored the game’s only goal.
MU women’s soccer suffers first loss
INDIANAPOLIS — Butler beat the Miami University women’s soccer team 5-2 on Friday, Sept. 3. It was the first loss for the RedHawks (3-1-0), whose goals were scored by Rachel Byron and Sarah Dessfelt.
