Miami University sophomores Chris Wideman and Connor Knapp and a pair of RedHawk recruits were selected Saturday, June 27, in the National Hockey League Amateur Draft.
Wideman, a defenseman, was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round, while Knapp was chosen in the sixth round by the Buffalo Sabres.
Wideman, a native of St. Louis, Mo., had 26 assists and a plus-11 rating in his freshman season for Miami.
Knapp started 21 games in net and posted a 2.09 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage for the RedHawks. He posted a 13-5-3 record with a pair of shutouts.
Two players who signed letters of intent in November — Reilly Smith and Curtis McKenzie — were both drafted by the Dallas Stars on Saturday. Smith was a third-round pick, while McKenzie was a sixth-round selection.
