Miami field hockey blanks Ohio
OXFORD — The Miami University field hockey team moved into a tie for first place in the Mid-American Conference with a 4-0 win Sunday over visiting Ohio.
Emily Gruesser scored two goals and Mary Hull and Christine Brightwell also scored for Miami (10-6, 5-2). Ohio fell to 9-8, 5-2.
• Miami’s women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Akron Sunday at Miami Soccer Field. The Zips scored the winner in the 92nd minute. Jess Kodiak scored for the RedHawks.
MUH volleyball sweeps Southern St.
The Miami University-Hamilton volleyball team swept a doubleheader against Southern State on Sunday after dropping an Ohio Regional Campus Conference match at Ohio-Chillicothe on Saturday.
MUH posted 25-14, 25-11 and 25-22, 25-12 wins on Sunday. Top players in the opening game were Gwen Bohman and Ashley Butler. Bowman and Megan Kennedy were the stalwarts in game No. 2.
Against Chillicothe, Celeste Kinsey and Kady Eby led MUH (7-8, 4-3 ORCC).
