HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Nathaniel Lester scored 21 points and Hofstra defeated Farmingdale College 87-48 on Friday night.
Hofstra (2-2), which led by as many as 41 points twice, won by its largest margin of victory since a 39-point defeat of Northeastern during the 1999-00 season.
The Pride scored 24 points off of 22 turnovers and held the Rams (0-1), a Division III team, to just 28.8 percent shooting (15 of 52).
Miklos Szabo had his second career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Pride. Hofstra outrebounded Farmingdale 49-34 and scored 21 second-chance points compared to five by the Rams.
Hofstra's Yves Jules scored 12 points and Chaz Williams added 11 in reserve as the Pride outscored the Rams 34-13 off the bench.
James Ockimey paced the Farmingdale with 11 points.
