WEST CHESTER TWP. — Lakota West kept its hopes alive for a share of the Greater Miami Conference title with an 82-73 victory at Sycamore on Friday.
Junior guard Ali Barnes scored a career-high 25 points, junior forward Monty Boykins added 20 and senior forward Jackson Blue recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds to help the Firebirds improve to 13-6 overall and 10-3 in the GMC.
The win moved West one game behind Middletown, which fell at Mason on Friday.
The Firebirds wrap the regular season Friday at home against Hamilton. They need a win and a loss by the Middies at Colerain to earn a share of their first league title since 2006.
Lakota East 46, Oak Hills 43: Junior guard Robbie Harpring scored a team-high 12 points to help the Thunderhawks win for the second time in their last three games.
Freshman forward Eric Eichler added nine points off the bench, and freshman guard Alex White grabbed a team-high eight rebounds to go along with four points as East improved to 7-12 overall and 4-9 in the GMC.
Ross 49, Norwood 31: Senior center Max Mischkulnig scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down nine rebounds to help the Rams score the road win Friday night.
Junior guard Brandon Fernandez added 13 points and five boards, while sophomore guard Blake Ballard chipped in with 10 points to help Ross improve to 12-5 overall and 8-3 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division.
Talawanda 44, Harrison 37: The Braves’ late-season surge continued Friday night at home as they won their second game in a row and third in their last four tries.
Senior guard Kody Wilhelm led the way with nine points, while junior forward Colton Adams came off the bench to record six points and five rebounds. Junior guard Nolan Robinson added a team-high nine rebounds and four points for Talawanda (7-11, 5-12 Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division).
