KETTERING — The Talawanda High School hockey team beat Noblesville (Ind.) 3-1 Sunday to win the Beavercreek Classic at Kettering Ice Center.
After falling to Noblesville on Friday in the opening game of the tourney, the Braves knocked off Kettering Alter (7-2) and Beavercreek (4-2) on Saturday to reach the title game.
Goaltender Andy Sens stoned Noblesville over the final two periods of the title game and allowed only eight goals in the tourneamnet.
Zach Sens led the Braves with five goals on the weekend. Brandon Tafelski and Tom Clayton added two apiece and Mitch Poetter, Sam Poetter, Wade McQueen, Zane Marsh, Ross Gann, Evan Bartlett, Curran Persinger, Zach Martin and Mason Miller added single tallies.
Assists went to Martin (four), Tafelski (three), Gann (two), Sam Poetter (two), Zach Sens (two), Mitch Poetter (two), Clayton (one) and Bartlett (one).
THS (6-6-1) returns to the ice at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at home against Sycamore.
