BOYS SOCCER

HAMILTON 3, TALAWANDA 2: Nick Phillips scored two goals on Saturday, Sept. 4, and Taylor Childs had one for the Big Blue, who improved to 2-1-2. Jake Binegar recorded seven saves for HHS.

ROSS 4, WITHROW 0: Richie Burns recorded the shutout with 13 saves for the Rams, who remained perfect at 4-0 on Saturday. Troy Spampanato scored two goals, Tom Kohorst and Aaron Rheinfrank each had one, and Brandon Burns had two assists. Withrow slipped to 0-1-2.

BADIN 4, DEER PARK 0: Dalton King scored two goals for the Rams (2-2-1) on Saturday. Kevin Keating and Adam Hartman each added a goal for Badin, Zach Myers had two assists, Grent Geigle had one assist, and Colin Martin recorded three saves for the shutout.

GIRLS SOCCER

WYOMING 5, ROSS 0: Nikki Hall recorded four saves for the Rams (3-2) on Saturday, Sept. 4.

FAIRFIELD 4, GLEN ESTE 2: Marcy Hamblin, Holly Sparks, Ashley Ryan and Casey McCall each scored a goal for the Indians, who improved to 4-1 on Saturday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

ROSS 3, MONROE 1: The Rams defeated the Hornets 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-19 in a match played on Saturday, Sept. 4. Leading players for the Rams were Jessica Brewer, 55 assists and seven aces; Molly Ann Harris, 20 kills, 13 digs and three blocks; Jessica Conrad, nine kills and four blocks; Jenna Barth, 11 kills, 26 assists, four aces and seven digs; Mallory Skelton, 21 kills, four aces, six digs and three blocks; Samantha Headley, six kills and four blocks; and Shelby Stockmeier, seven digs.

EDGEWOOD GOES 1-2 IN QUAD: The Cougars lost to Valley View 25-23, 25-19 and to Madison 25-17, 25-7 and defeated Northridge 25-12, 25-23 on Saturday. Leading players for Edgewood were Suzanne Frizell, defense; Erin Sharp, hitting; and Amanda Hobbs, footwork.

CROSS COUNTRY

VIOX LEADS ROSS BOYS: The Rams placed 22nd out of 28 teams in the boys race at the Lebanon Warrior Invitational on Saturday and were led by Chris Viox with a time of 18 minutes, 4 seconds. He was followed by teammates Frank O’Toole 
(18:26), Tom Kohorst (18:42), Patrick Grady (19.38), Clint Oliver (19:39), Sean Fisher (20:45) and Jesse King (21:03). The Ross girls placed 19th out of 23 teams and were led by Jessie Reinhardt with a personal-best 21:20, followed by Sarah Kaiser, Amanda McDonald, Michelle Patton, Maggie O’Toole, Taylor Lewis and Jocelynn Alexander (times were unavailable).

BADIN BOYS FINISH 15TH: Leading the Rams in the 26-team field (with 203 runners) on Saturday at the Greenville Invitational were Sam Wade, 27th in 17 minutes, 43 seconds; Evan North, 53rd in 18:26; Michael Reuss, 100th in 19:18; Marty Sunderhaus, 111th in 19:41; and Doug Frederick, 155th in 21:16.

TALAWANDA BOYS, GIRLS PLACE SECOND: The THS girls were led at the Middletown Christian Eagle Invitational on Saturday by Jessica Tegge, third in 20 minutes, 32 seconds; Emily Norton, fifth in 20:57; and Sarah Starrett, 10th in 22:32. Lindsay Meade of Cincinnati Christian placed second in 20:23. The Talawanda boys were led by Matt Snell, seventh in 18:06, and Jacob Hogg, 10th in 18:26.

FIELD HOCKEY

TALAWANDA 2, MAGNIFICAT 1: Dani Ross and Charlotte Lemstra scored for the Braves and Lemstra also had an assist. Goalkeeper Taylor Kittel played a strong match for Talawanda.
