FAIRFIELD Twp. — David Jeffries scored 16 points and hauled in 10 rebounds Friday night as the Cincinnati Christian boys basketball team defeated Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 52-46 in overtime.
Although the Cougars (9-6, 6-4 Miami Valley Conference) were in foul trouble in the second quarter, they got strong play off the bench and began the second half tied 19-19.
Jeffries sank 12-of-15 free throws for CCS, and Ryan Arington chipped in with 11 points.
Lakota West 77, Colerain 71, OT: The Firebirds overcame near-perfect shooting by Colerain in the fourth quarter in Friday’s Greater Miami Conference game.
Monty Boykins scored a game-high 26 points and also led all rebounders with 15 for the Firebirds (9-6, 6-3 GMC), who led by 10 points going into the fourth period.
Colerain (7-7, 2-7 GMC) connected on 9-of-10 field goal attempts in the fourth quarter to send the contest to overtime. In the extra period Lakota West sank 12-of-16 free throws to pull away.
Ali Barnes added 20 points for West and Tyler Williams scored 14.
Northwest 63, Talawanda 38: The Braves (4-10, 2-6 Fort Ancient Valley Conference) fell under a barrage of 3-point baskets by Northwest (9-6, 7-2 FAVC), which hit 11-of-24 shots from the arc.
Austin Davidson led THS with 17 points, nine rebounds and two blocks, and Kody Wilhelm added seven points and five steals.
Mount Healthy 45, Edgewood 38: Mason Back scored 22 points for the second straight game and also came up with five steals for the Cougars (1-12, 1-7 FAVC). Teammate Cody Hall grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds.
Princeton 63, Lakota East 39: The Thunderhawks (5-10, 2-7 GMC) were led by Ian Owens, who drilled three 3-pointers in four attempts and scored 11 points off the bench, and Myo Baxter, who added 10 points.
