Megan Reimer has caught fire for the Gardner-Webb University women’s soccer team.
The sophomore midfielder, a Badin High School graduate, has tallied five goals in the last three games — all wins — for the Bulldogs (3-3). She scored just once last season.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Reimer became the first women’s soccer player in Gardner-Webb history to capture the Big South Conference Player of the Week award.
The Bulldogs will host the Border Classic this weekend in Boiling Springs, N.C.
• Junior forward Danielle Hogue (Ross) is the second-leading scorer for Northern Kentucky (2-1), notching two goals and three assists.
Junior midfielder Morgan Price (Lakota West) also has an assist for the Norse.
• Sophomore forward Katelyn Turner (Lakota East) has one goal and two assists for Bowling Green, which is off to a 3-2 start.
The Falcons’ two losses came against Michigan State and Ohio State.
Football
Marietta freshman defensive back Rahkeem Caver (Hamilton) had a 69-yard interception return in his collegiate debut last weekend, a 20-14 win over visiting Thiel.
Caver also recorded three solo tackles and one assist.
• Union (Ky.) junior defensive back Lee Miles (Ross) had two solo tackles and two assists in the season-opening 57-7 win over Virginia-Wise last weekend.
He also broke up a pass.
Men’s cross country
Sophomore Jordan Parayil (Lakota West) paced Bellarmine to a third-place finish last weekend in Southern Indiana’s Stegemoller Classic in Evansville, Ind.
Parayil placed sixth in the individual standings with a time of 18 minutes, 49.6 second. It was the season-opening event for the Knights.
Men’s soccer
Junior forward Brennan Williams (Lakota East) has one goal and one assist for Findlay (1-2).
