HAMILTON — Tradition will meet perfection when the Badin and Wyoming girls soccer teams square off tonight, Nov. 4, in a Division II regional semifinal at Centerville High School.

Winners of five district titles in a row and nine overall, the Rams (11-4-4) also have played in three of the last four state championship matches.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, haven’t won a district title since 2004 and haven’t been to a state final since 2002. But Kellie Siler’s team has yet to lose in 19 matches this season, outscoring opponents by a combined 69-5 while compiling a 17-0-2 record.

“We love games like this,” Badin coach Keith Harring said. “People tell us, ‘You can’t compete with them. Look at their record.’ So all the pressure is on them.”

Siler said her team doesn’t feel any pressure, just excitement.

“It’s going to be a battle out there,” she said. “Badin is a very aggressive team. They work hard start to finish. They’re a team that really tests you offensively and defensively, and we’re excited to play them.”

The Cowboys are led by goalkeeper and captain Alexa Levick, a three-year starter who will play for Vanderbilt University next fall. Levick has 15 shutouts this season, including eight during Wyoming’s current nine-match winning streak.

“She’s outstanding,” Harring said. “Their defense is great, but even when they make mistakes, she compensates for them.”

Offensively, Wyoming is led by sophomore Michelle Jolson, who has 25 goals and 11 assists. Senior Jennifer Marck has 13 goals, and senior Bonnie Grace has 10. Senior co-captain Jillian Anderson leads the Cowboys in assists with 13.

“They’re a very solid team with eight senior starters,” Harring said. “They play a 4-3-3, and they’re very solid down the middle. That’s their strength. Jillian Anderson is their center (midfielder), and she’s one of the better players in the city.”

Tonight’s winner will advance to the regional championship match at noon Saturday at Princeton against Madeira or Indian Hill.
