FAIRFIELD 3, SYCAMORE 1: The host Indians clinched the outright Greater Miami Conference championship with Tuesday’s victory, getting two goals from Jerry Solorio and one from Alex Flores. Jalen Hambrick and T.J. Newbright added assists for Fairfield, which moved to 10-2-4 overall and 8-1 in the GMC in its regular-season finale. Josh Pfaff had eight saves in goal. It was also Senior Night for the Tribe, with Addison Hocter, Matt Feller, Ben Hasselbeck, Newbright, Solorio, Troy Wintermeyer, Alex Flores, Pfaff, Austin Hale and Ademir Asmat being honored. Sycamore fell to 9-4-2, 5-4. Fairfield opens Division I sectional play at home Thursday, Oct. 21, facing either Winton Woods or Princeton.
GIRLS SOCCER
MASON 2, HAMILTON 0: Host Big Blue slipped to 3-11-1 overall and 0-8-1 in the Greater Miami Conference with Tuesday’s loss. The Comets are 13-1-1, 8-0-1. HHS travels to West Carrollton on Saturday.
LAKOTA EAST 1, PRINCETON 0: Alex Ancona marked the lone goal Tuesday for the host Thunderhawks, who improved to 4-12 overall and 3-6 in the Greater Miami Conference. Madelyn Strahan and Hannah Doerbaum combined for the shutout in goal as the Vikings fell to 4-11-1, 1-7-1. East begins Division I sectional play Tuesday at Fairfield.
VOLLEYBALL
NORTHWEST 3, EDGEWOOD 0: The host Cougars dropped a 25-16, 25-12, 20-25, 25-14 decision on Tuesday, falling to 8-13 overall and 5-8 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division. Edgewood hosts Norwood on Thursday for Senior Night.
SYCAMORE 3, FAIRFIELD 0: The host Indians fell to 11-10 overall and 4-5 in the Greater Miami Conference with Tuesday’s 25-19, 25-14, 25-16 setback. Karsen Cronin (11 kills, nine digs), Jamie Hoskinson (15 digs) and Justine Kaminsky (12 assists, four digs) led Fairfield, which closes the regular season today at Harrison. Sycamore is 15-6, 7-2.
TALAWANDA 3, MT. HEALTHY 0: Meghan Bruder had five kills, 12 digs and nine aces Tuesday as the host Braves rolled to a 25-18, 25-12, 25-19 triumph. Also playing well for Talawanda were Katie Compton (10 assists), Lydia Dysart (five kills, three aces), Melissa Fontaine (eight assists) and Taylor Ruder (three kills). The Braves, 12-7 overall and 11-2 in the Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division, visit Ross tonight.
LAKOTA WEST 3, COLERAIN 0: The visiting Firebirds ran their Greater Miami Conference winning streak to 20 with Tuesday’s 25-18, 25-22, 25-12 victory. West is 18-3 overall and finished 9-0 in the GMC, while the Cardinals fell to 11-10, 3-6. The Firebirds end the regular season at home Thursday against Ursuline.
HARRISON 3, ROSS 2: The visiting Wildcats rallied to clinch the outright Fort Ancient Valley Conference West Division championship Tuesday, winning 21-25, 20-25, 26-24, 25-15, 15-13. Leading the Rams were Mallory Skelton (25 kills, three aces, 18 digs), Molly Ann Harris (10 kills, two blocks, 10 digs), Jenna Barth (11 kills, 23 assists, five digs, three blocks), Marcy Warman (two kills, two assists, three digs, three blocks), Shelby Stockmeier (three aces, 11 digs), Jessica Conrad (16 digs) and Jessica Brewer (12 assists, three aces, six digs). Ross, 17-4 overall and 10-3 in the FAVC, ends the regular season tonight with a Senior Night and Volley for the Cure match against Talawanda. Harrison is 13-6, 13-0.
MASON 3, HAMILTON 0: Visiting Big Blue ended the regular season Tuesday with a 25-12, 25-20, 25-12 defeat. Elizabeth Herzog, Hannah Kinch and Taylor Miller were defensive standouts for HHS, who fell to 7-14 overall and 2-7 in the Greater Miami Conference. Hamilton begins Division I sectional play at Lakota East on Tuesday, facing Withrow at 6 p.m.
