Kate Ceronie, a Miami University senior and Badin High School graduate, is this year’s recipient of the Bill Moeller Scholarship award.
The award, named in honor of the late sports editor and columnist of the JournalNews, is presented each year at the Butler County Sports Hall of Fame dinner, which will be held tonight at the Courtyard by Marriott in Hamilton.
Moeller, who kept much of Southwest Ohio informed about sports for 56 years, mostly through his “Bill’s Board” column, was one of the founders of the hall of fame, along with Jerry Nardiello of The Middletown Journal and Gaylen Duskey of the JournalNews.
Ceronie was a four-year letter winner in cross country and track at Badin and was a member of the National Honor Society.
At Miami, she has a double major in English and environmental science. She is involved in the Harry T. Wilks Leadership Institute and has an internship with Three Valley Conservation Trust.
The 29th class of the hall of fame will consist of Glenn O. Barker Jr. (Middletown High School), Alvia Churchman (Stewart), Matt Clemens (Fenwick), Chris Coffing (Lakota and Fairfield), Aureal Imfeld (Hamilton Catholic), Chris Kingsbury (Hamilton), Kevin Lakes (New Miami), Jim Patterson (Taft), John Trump (Stewart and Talawanda), Hamilton Watkins (Middletown) and Brooke Wyckoff (Lakota).
A general reception begins at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 and the induction program at 7.
