The Badin High School defense is well-represented on the Division V All-Ohio football team, which was released Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Junior defensive lineman Nick Seither (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) and senior linebacker Matt Combs (5-11, 179) were selected to the All-Ohio second and third teams, respectively, based on recommendations from a statewide media panel.
Seither recorded a team-high six sacks this season and four fumble recoveries in leading the Rams to the D-V playoffs under first-year head coach Bill Tenore. Seither also played a little offense with three receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown.
Combs added 2½ sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Defensive back Jeff Smith and offensive lineman Josh Gavin also received special mention honors for the Rams.
The offensive player of the year in D-V was shared by Coldwater quarterback Keith Wenning, West Lafayette Ridgewood’s Jake Conrad, Hamler Patrick Henry’s Justin Buenger and Youngstown Ursuline’s Allen Jones.
Defensive players of the year were Warren Shields (Richwood N. Union), Brett Pasche (Findlay Liberty-Benton) and Alan Sharp (Liberty Center).
Coaches of the year were Jesse Miller (Richwood North Union), Bob Olwin (Versailles) and Greg Phillips (Oak Hill).
In D-VI, the offensive players of the year were Heath Jackson (Ada) and Tyler Brause (Bucyrus Wynford).
The defensive player of the year was Delphos St. John’s Chris Pohlman, and the coaches of the year were Norwalk St. Paul’s John Livengood and Dalton’s Bob Ramsay.
