Reds in hunt despite ho-hum record

Team is sitting at .500 but just 3 games out of first in NL Central.

Arroyo isn't worried about baseball, he said he can't play his guitar with his pain. This crotch grabbing batting tee should have been gone 2 years ago. As for being in the race. Do you people really think the Reds are going to beat the Cards out? The Cards just went and got a player while the Reds went and got Corky Miller. Come on.

I heard on the radio that a caller said he could tell when Bronson was going to throw his fastball. He would deeply inhale then exhale right before the pitch. This is prb what the Blue Jays saw and keep torching him up!! Pass this on to Bronson's coaches Hal!!! Also i hope the Reds can get a huge bat to make a run.. The A's need a 3rd baseman, think they would insist Edwin was in any deal involving Holiday??

Pete. My sentiments exactly. With Lehr pitching lights out in Louisville, do we really want to string out a three game consecutive losing streak from the rock star Arroyo? Sometimes, I think the Reds keep playing certain struggling players because they don't want their stock value to go down. They wait until it's painfully obvious that they're not 100% and that's when they announce an injury. Come on. We can't afford to give away a single game.

I'm still scratching my head as to why Arroyo just NOW announces that his wrist is so bothersome that he's considering off-season surgery. If it hurts so much, just WTF is he even pitching? I mean hell.... all he's done lately is toss BP. Anyone else gotta clue on this?

"...as they begin a three-game series tonight, June 30, in Great American Ball Park against the Arizona Diamondbacks, firmly entrenched in the NL West cellar."

Which means the Reds will forget everything they know about baseball and allow themselves to be swept in three straight games by the D-Backs. On a positive note, I really can't wait to see the new and innovative ways they strand guys on base with nobody out. It gets more entertaining with each game!

The Reds have no chance of making the playoffs if Volquez doesn't come back sometime soon. Harang and Cueto is all they got and that's not saying much. Owings shouldn't even be a pitcher and Arroyo is to inconsistent. And baker is the most over rated manager in baseball. He will find some way to screw it up.

Buster Olney reported this morning on ESPN the Reds are actively looking for a power hitting outfielder. He mentioned Dye, Halladay, and Josh Willingham of the Nationals. They would have to give up some strong prospects as they are not able to pay all of the healthy contracts that come with the players.
Another spark in that lineup could be the difference maker in the long haul. Who knows what will happen, but its a good feeling to see the Reds in the buyers market at the beginning of July!

I am sorry, but .258 in 9 games in AAA Louisville shouldn't even warrant EE a pat on the back. He is going to have to show me more than that before warranting a call-up. Then again...Dusty is such a great manager he may be hitting cleanup this weekend.

Real Perspective: It doesn't matter what place you in. It's how many games your behind the first place team. If you had a choice between the 2 following situations, I would choose the Pittsburgh Pirates in last place and 6 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers Then the San Francisco Giants in 2nd place and 7 games behind the LA Dodgers. The Reds need to focus on winning games and catching the leader then seperate themselves from the rest of the teams in the central

Thanks for staying positive. It's great to not be completely out of it on June 30 for once.

You are definetly giving Mr Baker way too much credit. He probably said later in that interveiw, The team that scores the most runs in a game USUALLY WINS......He's so knowlegable. The yankees want him next!!!!

Perspective: From the Reds the Cubs are 1/2 game back, Astros 1 game back, and the Pirates are 3 games back. Sure the Reds are 3 games back at the moment, however the teams below them are awfully close. All we can hope for is a winning homestand while those below us get further below us.
