Take your pick, Reds fans.

I haven’t polled my friends who follow the Cincinnati Reds as to who they are rooting for in the National League division series: The Milwaukee Brewers or the St. Louis Cardinals.

But I have to think it’s the lesser of two evils, giving the hometown of “Laverne & Shirley” a landslide victory over their St. Louis Arch-rivals.

At least Reds fans have sentimental options with the ALDS. They can root on the Texas Rangers and former Reds outfielder Josh Hamilton. Or they can cheer on the Detroit Tigers, whose last World Series title came in 1984 with lovable manager Sparky Anderson.

But the NLDS can’t be easy to watch for Reds fans, who expected an NL Central team to battle for a World Series berth. They just thought it’d be the Reds.

Instead it’s the increasingly arrogant Brewers — Nyjer Morgan’s alter ego of Tony Plush is too much — or the constantly complaining Cardinals, who also have a swagger about them.

Maybe the Reds will develop one, too, next season.
