CINCINNATI — Xavier has canceled “reflection” sessions that were to be mandatory for students who attended the game against crosstown rival Cincinnati that ended in a brawl.
In a message sent to undergraduates and members of the media Friday, the school’s provost and student president said the university will instead hold a non-mandatory discussion next week. The change was made in response to student feedback on the earlier plan sent Thursday by the dean of students.
That email said fans in the student section contributed to a “hostile atmosphere” and they would be barred from receiving home tickets for the season if they didn’t attend one of three reflection sessions.
