We wish it was a joke but it’s not.
Jody Hughey and his family came home one day this week to find their house had been broken into.
Like anyone in the same situation they began to see what was missing when they discovered the horrible act.
The small box with the ashes of Caleb Ean Hughey was gone.
WSB-TV reports Jody Hughey says "it’s a shiny, silver-looking box, so they might have thought that the box itself was of value. They may not have realized what was in there."
Little Caleb was premature and died at birth in 2008.
Jody and his wife have had a long battle with infertility and he says the box and its contents carry great meaning.“To us, he is our only son. And it's very important we get him back," Jody said fighting back tears.
The box is described as four inches by four inches square and about three inches deep.
Jody said it was well marked. “It's got a border engraved around it and an angel engraved on the top of the box. Basically little hearts engraved around the border, and an angel engraved on the center." Above that are engraved Caleb's name and birth date.
Police in Marietta, Georgia have asked for the public to help in getting the ashes back to Jody and his wife.
