Rape. Divorce. Death. Coping with the aftermath of trauma can be nearly impossible for the person who’s trying to do it alone. For those looking for help, the John Engle Christian Counseling Center in Hamilton offers professional counseling to Butler County residents regardless of a person’s ability to pay.
“We have two major events each year to help fund the services we provide, with our fifth annual dinner theater being the biggest,” said Counseling Center Director Leanne Myers.
This year, Friends of the Groom, a Christian theater group from Cincinnati, will once again provide the entertainment for the dinner theater, performing “The World’s Oldest Financial Planner.” The play will offer a Christian message about dealing with personal finances, blending humor, costumes and a challenging story line that is pertinent to the current economic crisis in America.
“We’ve been getting a lot of calls at the center from people who have lost their jobs or their homes and are having trouble dealing with it, so we wanted to offer a message that is funny, yet offers hope to the suffering,” Myers said.
The dinner theater will be held at Hamilton’s Redeemer Church on Nov. 14, with the menu featuring meatloaf, salad, vegetables, breads and desserts.
The event will be topped off with a silent auction featuring donated items.
