FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Community Arts Center will conduct a second round of auditions for an upcoming play after having a small turnout for auditions Dec. 15-16.
Actors are sought for “I Hate Hamlet.” Auditions will take place in the FCAC theater at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 5-6. The show opens Feb. 19.
Parts that are open are for men in their 20s through 50s and women in their 20s to 70s. The FCAC released this synopsis of the play:
“Andrew Rally seems to have it all; celebrity and acclaim from this hit television series, a beautiful girlfriend, a devoted agent, a glamorous New York apartment, and the chance to play Hamlet in Central Park. However, there are a couple of glitches. Andrew’s series has been cancelled, his girlfriend is clinging to her virginity, his agent is dying, and he scared to death to play Hamlet. To top it off, the ghost of John Barrymore, in whose apartment Andrew is living, appears to teach Andrew all the greatest acting secrets passed down from one Hamlet to another.
“The laughs are nonstop as Andrew wrestles with his conscience, Barrymore, his sword, and looming opening night as Hamlet.”
