OXFORD — The Miami University Performing Arts Series and the Department of Music are celebrating Miami University’s Bicentennial with a Homecoming LegacyFest concert at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23 at Millett Hall.

The concert features a commissioned work by legendary jazz master Benny Golson, who will be performing.

The performance also features Miami University’s Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Combined Choirs (Chamber Singers, Choraliers, Collegiate Chorale, and Men’s Glee Club) as well as Talawanda High School and Middle School Bands and the high school’s choirs.

Additional celebratory commissions have been written by David Shaffer, Miami’s Dean of the School of Fine Arts; Jim Lentini; and Miami music faculty Roger Davis and James Sheppard; as well as recent Miami graduate Andrew Goldie.

Golson will be in residence working with local students prior to performing with them.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $19 for senior citizens, and $10 for students and youth. For tickets or information, visit www.muohio.edu/PerformingArtSeries or call the box office at (513) 529-3200.
