Fairfield and Cornerstone Plaza plan to set a festive mood for the holiday season.
The city’s annual Holly Days celebration is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at Village Green Park on Wessel Drive and will include a host of activities and entertainment.
“It’s another opportunity to come together as a community and welcome in this holiday season and see all the impressive light displays we put together,” Strickler said.
Strickler said Holly Days will have things for kids to do and holiday music, including performances from Fairfield Middle School’s Rhythm Express and the Fairfield Community Arts Center’s children’s choir.
The Fairfield Tempo Club will sell poinsettias and “musical” memorabilia. Mama Made It Kettlecorn and the Daily Grind will be selling refreshments at the park.
The Christmas tree will be on the amphitheater stage and is set to be lit at the end of the event. Santa Claus and Mayor Ron D’Epifanio are scheduled to be on hand for the tree lighting.
“There be a lot of holiday cheer,” Strickler said.
The Community Jesters will host the “Santa House” from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at Cornerstone Plaza. The “Santa House” will be open for the first three weekends in December.
Lu Ann Thorne, TB Properties operations and marketing manager, said the event is celebrating local businesses and the community.
“Bringing this to the community will be one more way to support (our tenants), but also our community,” Thorne said. “We want the shopping center to be a place where the community can come and find something for the whole family.”
John Foughty, of the Community Jesters, said his group often fills various needs for the community.
“Kids like Santa Claus,” he said. “And we thought this would be a better opportunity to get Santa to the people.”
The handicapped-accessible “Santa House” will be delivered this weekend. Santa will arrive at his house close to noon Dec. 5. A Fairfield fire truck is set to bring jolly old St. Nick to the plaza.
The event is free, and parents are permitted to take pictures of their children with Santa. However, anyone without a camera may purchase a photo for $4 — which will be $3 with a couple of canned goods, Foughty said.
