It was a quest for the perfect slice that led a local father and son to open Ross Pizza four years ago. As the owners of a successful pool and spa business , Terry and Ryan Lauck decided to open the pizzeria because they felt they could offer a wider selection of toppings and sauces served on fresh dough, made daily from scratch.
“We worked for two years at home before opening the restaurant, to get the taste of our pizza and sauces right,” said Ryan.
The restaurant’s home made buttermilk ranch sauce is just one of the success stories that came out of the Laucks in home experiment. Used in place of a traditional pizza sauce the ranch is subtle and does not overpower the many fresh vegetable or meat toppings that are available. The Vegetable Pizza with Ranch or the Triple Meat Pizza with Ranch are just two of the selections that have become customer favorites. In addition, all pizzas can be ordered with home made traditional sauce.
“We have also come up with a tartar sauce recipe that we use to make a Big Boy pizza,” said Terry.
The portions are big at the restaurant and pizzas come in medium, large, extra large and rambo sizes. There is a 29” pizza that is also available and the owners have issued a challenge to any two people who can eat all of it in an hour.
“The 29” typically serves 25 people, but if two people can eat it in an hour we’ll give it to them for free,”Ryan said. Another creation of the Laucks is the Take -N-Bake Pizza which is prepared at the restaurant so the customer can take it home and bake it at their own convenience.
In addition to pizza, the restaurant features steak hoagies that are made fresh and not frozen, hamburgers, fish, shrimp baskets and grilled chicken. Hot wings are offered in servings of 10,20,30,40 and 50 pieces, and tossed salads are made fresh daily for those looking for something on the lighter side.
Delivery is available from Ross Pizza to Ross, Millville, Okeana, Colerain and the Sharon Park area of Hamilton. Expect arrival time to be between 45 minutes to an hour. Call ahead orders are typically ready in 15 minutes, and for those dining in, the restaurant seats 20 and is family friendly. Alcohol is not served but Pepsi products are available. The owners of Ross Pizza will do offsite catering, and parties for children or small groups are accepted with advance notice.
