After water damage forced the closing of the Manchester Room inside Middletown’s Manchester Inn, the owners decided it was the perfect time to remodel. Reopened on June 26, the restaurant has taken on a whole new look with a modern mix of green, tan and burgundy replacing the floral wallpaper that had been up for decades.

“We’ve tried to modernize our color scheme, we’ve relocated the restaurant bar to the side of the dining area and we’ve added a dance floor,” said general manager Lance Stringham.

The menu has also been updated with the addition of several certified Angus Beef choices, and Stringham said he has worked to make the restaurant friendlier to the family budget.

“I wanted to make our menu more consumer friendly by adding dishes that are more moderately priced,” he said.

The daily lunch buffet features hot entrees like boneless pork, chicken cordon bleu casserole, and tilapia along with the soup and salad bar that includes the Manchester’s popular home made chili. Specialty lunch sandwiches run the gamut between the Prime Rib Dip made with certified Angus beef, and the Manchester Club which is a customer favorite.

Dinner entrees feature the Crab Stuffed Tilapia, Vegetable Lasagna and a variety of steaks. Burgers and a limited selection of sandwiches are also served in the evening.

The Manchester Room bar offers happy hour on weekdays with reduced price drinks and half price appetizers. On Friday and Saturday nights diners can enjoy the Prime Rib Buffet and “All you can eat” barbecue ribs on Saturday. Breakfast lovers have a variety of omelets to choose from as well as waffles and a selection of hot entrees at the Sunday Brunch.

Live entertainment is offered on Friday and Saturday nights at the Manchester, with swing and jazz music being featured. The outdoor, full service patio is covered and seats 30. Reservations are accepted for both lunch and dinner, and private banquet areas are available.
