A Healthy Meal Choice Inside Jungle Jim’s

Hot Topics

Shoppers at Jungle Jim’s in Fairfield can now enjoy a light lunch or dinner at the new on-site restaurant, Jungle Subs & Salads. The sub shop opened last November, and features a wide variety of salads, soups and sandwiches made with Boar’s Head meats and cheeses.

“We believe it takes at least three hours to go through our market properly and the sub shop offers customers the chance to grab a bite to eat while enjoying the same quality Boar’s Head products that they are taking home,” said Debby Hartinger from the creative services department at Jungle Jim’s.

Nearly everything at Jungle Subs & Salads is made with Boar’s Head products including all condiments and specials. Since Boar’s Head does not offer breads and desserts the fresh baked cookies and sandwich breads are made fresh daily in the market bakery.

In addition to regular subs like The Little Italy, made with Boar’s Head ham, Cotto salami and pepperoni, the sandwich of the week will feature creative concoctions like the Mesquit-O Bite, is made with Mesquite Turkey, Colby Cheese, Cajun Mayonnaise, lettuce and onion and served on the customer’s choice of bread. The Jungle Subs & Salads menu also has a combo special with subs, salads, Boar’s Head hot dogs and daily soup choices that include a fountain drink.

“We offer the same customer service in the sub shop that we do at our deli, even though there is much more prep here,” said Manager Michael Sturm. Sturm will cater private events at Jungle Subs & Salads, having recently held a party where he served over 300 sandwiches.

Orders can be faxed in for those who don’t have time to stand in the long line that often forms around lunchtime. The inside of the sub shop seats approximately 60 and there are several tables outside for those who enjoy patio dining. All subs can also be carried out.

Jungle Subs & Salads has the largest selection in the region of Boar’s Head products with over 150 varieties of meat and cheeses. All menu sandwiches can be made with the customer’s choice of cheese, condiments and produc,e and for those watching their salt intake, low sodium selections are offered. Most Boar’s Head meats are 98 percent Fat Free.

I Find Most Of the review about the Sub shop to be un-true. The line at the Sub shop is long, sometimes, but only because the food is great and service is excelent.
Boars Head is a great co. and provides the best.
The review is poorly written
