You’ve officially survived the holidays ... but now what? Without holiday parties and college bowl games to occupy your time, what are you supposed to do? Try these top events this week in Columbus and Cincinnati.

CINCINNATI

Trey Songz and Friends

When: 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8

Where: Bogart’s, 2621 Vine St., Cincinnati

Cost: $39

The scoop: This popular R&B artist released his third album, “Ready,” last September.

Verdict: Trey was nominated last year for Best R&B Male Vocal Performance and “Ready” has been nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album this year.

Worth the trip? He probably doesn’t stand a chance against Beyonce and Jamie Foxx, but come cheer him on anyway.

When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9

Where: Southgate House, 24 E. Third St., Newport, Ky.

The scoop: The vocalist/guitarist for Dayton’s own Hawthorne Heights will be playing a rare acoustic performance at this intimate venue.

Verdict: HH formed in Dayton in 2001, and achieved immense success with its first two albums, spawning singles that appeared on MTV, VH1 and Fuse.

Worth the trip? Woodruff will be performing stripped-down versions of HH songs as well as some previously unheard material.

Cavalcade of Customs

When: Jan. 8-10 — Friday, 3 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Duke Energy Cincinnati Convention Center, 525 Elm St., Cincinnati

Cost: $14 (adults), $5 (children 12 and younger)

The scoop: A weekend-long show devoted to customized racing vehicles, from dragsters to 1960s-70s muscle cars.

Verdict: Other special features include auctions and collectible toys.

Worth the trip? There will be a number of local and national celebrities present as well, including Pete Rose, Chip Foose (“Overhaulin’”), Moises Arias (from Disney Channel show “Hannah Montana”), the Ben-Gals, and SpongeBob (Disclaimer: It’s just a guy in a suit, not the real SpongeBob).

“Curious George Live”

When: Jan. 8-10 — Friday, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Where: Bank of Kentucky Center, Northern Kentucky University, 500 Nunn Drive, Highland Heights, Ky.

Cost: $14-$30

The scoop: A stage version of the lovable, terminally inquisitive monkey.

Verdict: George travels from the United States to Rome in a quest to win the “Golden Meatball” contest.

Worth the trip? Hollywood actually made a decent movie version a few years back, with Will Ferrell as the voice of the hapless Man in the Yellow Hat.

COLUMBUS

Monster Jam Freestyle Mania

When: Jan. 8-9 — Friday, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Where: Nationwide Arena, 200 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus

Cost: $18-$52 ($11 for kids 12 and younger)

The scoop: A series of mind-blowing freestyle events featuring obscenely large and maneuverable motor vehicles.

Verdict: The freestyles include wheelies and donuts. The models include Quad-FMX, Super Bike and Motorcross.

Worth the trip? Noise and destruction still qualifies as legitimate adult entertainment.
