NEWPORT, Ky. — The American Cornhole Organization and Newport on the Levee have teamed up to bring the first-ever Cornhole on the Levee Winter Classic to the levee Jan. 21.
The cornhole tournament is an open tournament, meaning anyone above the age of 18 may participate, regardless of experience. The tournament is also an open doubles event, meaning two players will play against two other players to see who can take home the win. And there are going to be lots of chance to play, with 32 spots open every hour and eight tournaments occurring between 1 and 8 p.m.
Kortney Borowitz, the marketing and event coordinator for the American Cornhole Organization, said the event is more of a social gathering.
Christy Gloyd, the marketing director for Newport on the Levee, said many of the businesses on the levee are offering prizes. Some of them include free movie tickets from AMC Theatres, Reds tickets, restaurant coupons and other prizes.
The cornhole tournament will be held inside the galleria and all proceeds from beer sold at the event will go directly to the WAVE Foundation.
Cornhole hopefuls can preregister at www.americancorhole.com/leveecornhole.html. Tournaments are $15 per person per tournament or two for $20.
