Local parks offer cool summer concert series

There may be a lot of large local attractions to fill the bill for local residents this summer, but area parks are offering up summer sounds for those looking for something a little more relaxed. Did we mention they are free? All you’ll need to bring is your own blanket or folding chair.

West Chester Twp.

After Hours @ The Square is a Thursday event for young professionals and the residents of West Chester Twp. to gather in Union Centre for music and drinks. Musical acts perform from 6 to 9 p.m.

On weekends, concerts are presented by Fifth Third Bank at Keehner Park and are designed for families and all locals.

West Chester Twp. also will host the annual Union Centre Boulevard Bash on Aug. 14-16.

The annual Sunshine Concert Series takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sundays at Mason’s Corwin M. Nixon Park in the field behind the Lou Eves Municipal Pool. Intermissions include prize giveaways. The pool’s concession stand provides food available for purchase.
