Céline Dion's Husband René Angélil has died from cancer

Céline Dion's husband and manager, René Angélil, died Thursday from throat cancer.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce that René Angélil, aged 73, died this morning at her residence in Las Vegas after a long and courageous fight against cancer," Dion said in a statement on her Facebook page and official website. "The family wishes to live the mourning in privacy."

Coroner John Fudenberg said Angelil died under the care of a doctor of natural causes.

No further invesigation is expected.

Angeli was born in 1942 in Montreal, Canada to a Syrian father and Canadian mother.

Angélil married Dion, who was 26 years his junior, in 1994 in a lavish ceremony in Montreal. They have three children together. René-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 5. Angélil has three adult children from two previous marriages, Anne-Marie, Jean-Pierre and Patrick.
