RECALL: Frozen waffles, sausage recalled in Ohio

A Georgia company has recalled more than 5,000 pounds of frozen entree products that could be contaminated, and the products were distributed in Ohio.

Golden Gourmet recalled approximately 5,248 pounds of frozen waffles with turkey sausage patties, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service. The products were produced and packaged on Dec. 21, Dec. 28, Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 of last year.

The products could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious infections for older adults, pregnant women and children. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck and confusion.

Consumers who have bought the products should throw away the items or return them to the place of purchase.

The products include:

  • 5,248 lbs. of 7.1 oz. trays with clear film in cardboard box packages containing "Waffles, Turkey Sausage Patty with Sliced Apple Seasoned w/Brown Sugar and Cinnamon" on the label, lot codes of "2016355," "2016363," "2016364" and "2016362," and Use By dates of 06/21/18, 06/28/18, 06/29/18 and 06/30/18.

The products were shipped to Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, South Carolina and Tennessee. There have been no reported illnesses due to the consumption of these products.
