LIST: Retailers rank hottest toys for the holidays

Retailers like Walmart and Target are already prepping for the holidays, and have revealed the top toys that shoppers will want to snag this year.

Last year, shoppers searched to get their hands on Hatchimals, a hatching egg toy that sold out at toy stores before Christmas. Hatchimals made the lists again this year, along with plenty of Star Wars-themed toys and other electronics.

Holiday retail sales increased 4 percent compared to 2015, bringing in $658 billion, according to the National Retail Federation. The numbers exceeded NRF's forecast of $655.8 billion, which would have been an increase of 3.6 percent.
