Guiding Light ends on Friday; how should it finish?
This Friday, Sept. 18 is your last chance to watch ‘Guiding Light.’
America’s longest-running soap opera, with a start on radio 72 years ago, will air for the last time at 3 p.m. Friday on CBS.
According to Soap Opera Weekly odds are 50-50 that Reva and Josh end up together.
How do you hope the show ends? Do you have high hopes for Reva and Josh or another couple?
I watched the show for a little bit years ago and loved Cassie and the prince. Do you have favorite moments?

I’ve been watching since 1980 (funny I don’t feel that old!) and I’m really gonna miss watching daily saga of the Spauldings, the Lewis’s, the Bauers & the Cooper’s. I thoroughly enjoyed my one hour escape from reality. Will Josh & Reva end up together? I can only hope because their love is all consuming and never ending but I think Reva will be reunited with Jeffery. I think we will have to be content with Phillip & Beth - the shows other super couple who has weathered the tides of change. I’m also happy they embraced the love between Olivia and Natalia - bold move for such an “old” show. I hate the Light is going out. I have some wonderful memories and will miss visiting Springfield.

I am 35 years old and I have grown up watching Guiding Light. I remember the great Reva and Josh fountain scene and so many other memorable moments. It is sad that such a clasic has come to a end. I blame it on the director and writers letting it go down hill. There are so many characters they could use (as we’ve seen by them all coming back recently)and kept the show going and re-sparked the fire. The change in the way they taped it too was bad. Farewell to the Spaldings, Lewis’s, Coopers and Bauers you will be missed!

I HAVE WATCHED THIS FOR YEARS AND I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THE DECISION THAT HAS BEEN MADE. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN UP TOP THE VIEWERS TO DECIDE WHICH SOAP TO BE REMOVED AND TRUST ME IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN GUIDING LIGHT IT IS THE BEST ONE GET RID OF THE BOLD&BEAUTIFUL AND AS THE WORLD TURNS. THE PAST WEEKS HAVE KEPT US ON WONDERING NOW WE WILL NEVER KNOW THANKS TO A WRONGFUL DECISION THAT HAS BEEN MADE. I WILL NOT WATCH THIS STATION AGAIN!!!!

Then get off this site.Yes I will miss the Guiding Light. CBS says they are taking It off because of cost but can have sports during the week days. Who is watching at that time.I know It cost big time to have sports on.CBS daytime should be call fair and balance like Fox news.

I have watched GL for along time, and will miss it alot also. It was my second favorite soap, “Days” is the other one. I guess I will go back to NBC shows. I DIDNOT like the fact of them killing of Mr. Spaulding, did not see that coming at all. Well, I’m sure that most of the actors will show up on the other soaps very soon. Good Luck to all of them.

I’ve watched GL since the days of Holly and Roger in the late 1970s. It’s been the one show I’ve consistently watched throughout the years. I did take some time away after the show went to handheld cameras and looked like they were shooting scenes in a closet. When I heard the show was being cancelled, I came back to watch until the end. I must say that the writing and production values of the show are as good now as they ever were. It makes me sad that finally the show is where it should be again and now it’s being cancelled. How would I like to see it end? I actually think the writers have done a good job of wrapping everything up. However that last scene plays, I’m sure I’ll need a tissue.

I can’t understand how GL ratings are low, as everyone I talk to loves the soap. And what a shame to kill the oldest running soap? Wish there was a way it could be saved. I am very sad and it will leave a void in my daily schedule.

I have been a fan of Guiding Light since the 80’s, especially the romance of Josh & Reva. However, I am disgusted at the lesbian love affair between Olivia and Natalia. Once they did that, they pretty much lost me. However, I am going to leave work early to see how they end the story with Josh & Reva. He, he. :)
