Two Ohio Wine festivals pour forth up north
Two Ohio wine festivals scheduled for this weekend and next make a road trip or two mighty tempting.
First, the Vintage Ohio Wine Festival will be held from 1 to 10 p.m. on both Friday, Aug. 6 and Saturday, Aug. 7 at Lake MetroParks Farmpark at 8800 Chardon Road in Kirtland, Ohio northeast of Cleveland.
The annual event presented by the Ohio Wine Producers Association will draw 18 Ohio wineries, including southwest Ohio’s own Valley Vineyards in Morrow in Warren County.
Advance tickets are $25 for adults ($27 at the gate), $10 for non-drinkers/designated drivers, $3 for kids 4 to 17, and free for children 3 and under. For more information by phone, call the OWPA at 800-227-6972. Or click on this Vintage Ohio Wine Festival web link.
Then from Aug. 12-14, The Toast of Ohio Wine Heritage Festival will be held in Sandusky on the Lake Erie waterfront (actually, in the Sandusky Bay Pavilion at 605 E. Water Street, Sandusky). The main events will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug, 14. Twelve Ohio wineries will be pouring at the event.
