It is located between The Pub and Noodles & Co. near the Indian Ripple Road entrance to the shopping and entertainment complex.
The Wine Loft will open daily at 4 p.m. It will close at midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and at 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. For more information, call 937-429-4424.

Man, all of these people complaining is dumb! If you do not like the fact that a chain (which is only 20 stores by the way) has opened up in Dayton, then here is how you fix it. Open your own local business and hire everyone in Dayton that is out of a job! Oh wait that wont work because we need other businesses. WPAFB the money goes to the federal government so thus is not a “local” business so should we shut them down to? I like to go to local bars and food places as much as the next person, but I like variety so if someone wants to open up a franchise here I say go for it. It creates more jobs for people and more tax revenue for the city!!

I woke up very refreshed and went online to look up what was new…I was excited to hear about a new wine loft in town, being the lover of wine herself, and found myself sadened by all the ego driven, pathetic comments. I know my good friend Jen is very happy with her new job…Just because it’s not local doesn’t mean daytonians aren’t reeping the benefits…for once I’d like negative people to look outside their tiny boxes and give people a chance!

mallrat - the Greene has condos… is it so strange that someone ‘lives’ there? The lifestyle center is an interesting concept - live/work/play. With suburban sprawl being what it is, it’s refreshing to see a developer try this concept in the Dayton area - certainly a risk. It’s simply a newly-constructed version of a lifestyle that works very well in nearby Oakwood. The value of walking to desinations instead of driving cannot be overstated. If a wine loft adds to the utility/enjoyment of the center, I say cheers!

@Mark. You are absolutely right, people here just don’t care about small mom and pop places. It is pathetic how there is a line at Chipotle and Bob Evans, while artisan places with better food and service have to close down, because people here go where it is safe and boring avoiding anything original and unique. Makes me sick.

While I appreciate these guys opening a new business as I am small business owner too. There are a few comments that ring true, Dayton loves their franchises i.e. any company that doesn’t reside here locally. Dayton’s mom & pops are dying & I know most of you don’t care.

@Steve: You love living in the shopping mall??? This is funny and sad at the same time. What local businesses flourishing? The Greene has no local businesses, everything there is national franchises that buys nothing from regional producers or small businesses. All the money that you spend there go outside of Dayton region to support big corporations. The jobs that are created at the Greene are minimal and mostly a bit above minimum wage; retail stuff…

It is the same old same old. Until the city of Dayton decides to take a regional approach to solving their issues, it will be left behind with empty lofts, no grocery store, no real security down town and a leadership that talks out of one side of it’s mouth and has it’s hands in everybody’s pocket. It has been the same for decades. At least the Green gives you a reason to go there. Downtown Dayton ????? I keep trying it but sorry.

Darn, I forgot about the “everything that opens in the suburbs is bad!” crowd.

Dayton has a city ! And it is located downtown! The city of Dayton must make a comeback if this region wants to stay productive!

I think the critics here should look at the bigger picture. Someone is creating a few more jobs in this area which touches so many aspects of our local economy we should all be grateful. Local contractors worked on it, some local food and produce will supply it, let’s learn to look more positively at gifts.

Winston, i just loved your comment… you really put the “whine bar” peeps in their place… I recently moved to the Greene and simply love it, the stores, the restaurants, and the people are great here… nothing like this exists anywhere else and most cities would give their eye teeth to have even half of we enjoy here on a daily basis… oh yeah congrats on the Wine Bar, just goes to show you that even in these perceived economic hard times local biz is still flourishing

Yes, another chain, another wine bar—this is what we need! Fake town wanna be like the Greene just needs another fake venue to attract all the pretentious people, so they can think they are in a real European city enjoying the last”it” thing to do. Don’t they realize that this is soooo pathetic—the Greene, the cookie cut all the same stores across the country, all the bland cardboard chain restaurants, all the same looking McMansions. No originality; everything so bland and “safe.” Why people in Dayton support that?

Cue the “A business is opening that sell *? No wonder the hospitals are expanding!!!” and “Just what we need, another franchise! I get all my wine from a local hobo so I can support local businesses!” comments that seem to always follow. :)

Will that ‘wine bar’ replace the ‘whine bar’ that exists in the DDN comments sections of articles?
