New wine bar at The Greene to open this month

The new wine bar coming to The Greene that we told you about back in May has revised its opening date and is scheduled to open within a month.

The Wine Loft is now scheduled for a “soft opening” the last week of September, with grand opening festivities about three weeks later, according to Jeff Van Horne, who will own and operate the wine bar along with his wife Jill.

Van Horne, you may recall, is a 1986 graduate of Centerville High School who recently returned to Ohio after a 16-year stint with Texas Instruments in the Dallas area. He said back in May that he is an avid wine collector and was looking to launch his own business when the Wine Loft opportunity arose.

In an interview late last week, Van Horne said he hopes to open relatively quietly, with no advertising, and use the first few weeks to fine-tune service. The Wine Loft will be a full-service wine bar that will offer as many as 70 wines by the glass and up to 250 wines by the bottle along with a menu of light cuisine. The wine bar will be located at 21 Greene Boulevard, will be managed by Eric Ball, and its phone number is (937) 429-4424, according to the Wine Loft at The Greene’s web site.

How does a “soft opening” differ from a “hard opening?” Or maybe with hard opening your on the floor due to over consumption. Hold the light cusine.
