Free beer for a year is Coors contest prize

The MillerCoors Brewing Company has launched a contest on Facebook it’s calling the Coors Banquet Gold Rush Sweepstakes that offers “free beer for a year.*”

The asterisk is a rather important one, however, since the prize isn’t free unlimited beer for a year, but rather, is delivered “in the form of a check for $600.” Which I’m thinkin’ does not reallllly qualify as free beer for a year for a good portion of its most loyal customers. Still, when you throw in the trip-for-two to Golden, Colorado, the brewery tour, the food voucher — not too shabby. (But what’s up with a “goldfish named Banquet” being part of the grand prize?)

The entry period ends Sept. 30.

Does anybody else beside this old geezer remember when Coors was a big, huge deal in Ohio, back in the days when we couldn’t buy it here? And people would transport cases back from the west coast? My how times have changed …

I’ve seen Smokey and the Bandit several times. Does that count?

yes I remember those days when Coors was a huge deal here. It was a guaranteed draw if you were having a party and had Coors. But like that elusive girl you used to chase in school; once it became available, it lost some of it’s luster.
