Dr. Vino dustup morphs into wine ethics debate

It’s here, it’s addictive, it’s a follow-up installment entitled “Changes at The Wine Advocate? Correspondence with Parker and Miller” to the Dr. Vino original piece we mentioned last week, and it has morphed into a robust international debate about ethics and wine reviewers. Ed: Thanks for the nudge. The most recent Uncorked entry posted today (4-22) regarding the new (and only) Dayton-area winery that is about to open should be of interest to local wine enthusiasts. In addition to Uncorked, I also write the “Taste: Dayton Food and Restaurants” blog, and in recent days, there has been considerable “breaking news” on the local restaurant front that merits the attention of local folks who care about wine and food, including an announcement of a new restaurant coming to downtown Dayton, progress on inking a deal for a new restaurant in Riverside near the Air Force museum, a court decision in the Dominic’s case, and most recently, Cafe Boulevard restaurant in Dayton’s Oregon District filing for bankruptcy protection to reorganize its debts while it remains open and operating. To view the Taste blog, go to http://www.daytondailynews.com/go/taste … There’s certainly an ebb and flow in this news/blogging business, and you’re right that it has been flowing for restaurant news and ebbing for wine news lately. I’ll try to correct that.

Mark- I think it might be time to do some local stories that hold some real meaning for local readers/visitors to the website. Other blog-sites and news from far off lands do not command local interest. Maybe a survey of local retailers regarding wine purchases in these challenging economic times. Possibly a restaurant analysis of pricing, both by-the-glass and bottle. I think the site has gone a little stale.
